The 1600 meter bridge over the Mekong connects the Thai province of Mukdahan with the city of Savannakhet (ສະຫວັນນະເຂດ) in Laos. It is not possible to stop on the bridge. The second Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge is popular for visa border runs because there is also a bus terminal between the two border posts. Watch the flags on the bridge too!
