Miss K made a Vlog of our impressions at Hanoi with some interesting sights.
We arrived at the very busy Hanoi Ná»™i BÃ i International Airport (HAN) after a short flight in just under two hours from Bangkok (BKK) Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The hotel arranged our transfer from Noi Bai airport to the hotel. We stay in a hotel in the old quarter, close to many must-see sights.
What immediately struck us were the extremely narrow houses, about 4 meters wide, but the buildings extended far back. The same goes for the hotel room, which is just wide enough for a bed and a little space to move around.
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum seen from the sometimes very long line of visitors who want to honor him. Inside he lies very peacefully in a large room with guardsman. Ho Chi Minh died in 1969 his embalmed body is on public display inside the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum.
One of the many bronze busts of the late Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, against a red background, surrounded by golden five-pointed star, as found on the Vietnamese flag, and the hammer and sickle (â˜), a communist symbol. This bronze bust is located inside a historic house in Hanoi featuring and honor Ho Chi Minh.
When a traffic jam occurs, motorcycles sometimes drive on the sidewalk without much consideration for pedestrians. We were once hit on the sidewalk by one of the rarely seen cyclists. Sidewalks are often full of parked motorcycles, so you have no choice but to use the street. To get ahead on foot when crossing a street, you only need to move forward as violently as the car drivers and motorcyclists.
Hanoi is a very busy city with lots of motorbikes and cars maybe to much motorbikes and cars. Crossing a street is a crime; driving is difficult to predict which direction a car will go, and between this chaotic traffic motorcycles are crossing to find the fastest way to a destination.
Easy Sightseeing on top of a Hop-on Hop-off bus. No matter which city in the world we visit, we always take a tour on an open-top Hop-on Hop-off bus for a broad impression of a city.

Driving in a taxi in the old quarter of Hanoi in small alleys, thank god most of the streets are one-way.
On the grounds of the mausoleum, a woman plays a traditional one-sided instrument. She accompanies her performance with background music from her mobile phone. The location seems to be a museum with lot of these traditional instruments. Very impressive.
The well-known Train Street, probably one of the most photographed tourist objects in Hanoi. A train arrives and the locals quickly sprint to get ahead of the train.
Hundreds of young schoolchildren from a Vietnamese primary school visit a thousand-year-old Chinese school the Temple of Literature, today a temple museum with an impressive history spanning over a thousand years. Not to mention the many artifacts that are on display.
Inside the temple of literature. This is one of the oldest and most significant building complexes, in Hanoi and among the largest Confucian vestiges in Vietnam.
When you finally get to your sights, the things worth remembering are always worth it. However, we unanimously decided not to visit Hanoi twice. It cannot be said Hanoi is a tourist-friendly city. Whether this Hanoi traffic chaos also applies to other cities in Vietnam is hard to say.
