The service water is used for toilet, shower and washing, as drinking water we prefer bottled water.
The domestic water system consists of the well pump described under Well water, a 1000-liter polymer tank with a float switch that switches the well pump, a pump to supply the house, the underground pipes and a 5-micron filter under the house. Recently a second pump, both installed in series, for supply the house.
We use the second service water pump for more capacity and equal pressure in the house. We also add an expansion tank to stabilize the water pressure. The expansion vessel ensures that pressure differences are absorbed.
The tank has UV protection, but unfortunately the water in the tank is heated by the sun. We've tried installing insulation using a bamboo mat, but the real solution will be a roof to stop warming by the sun.
The domestic water pump that supplies the house. (by the way, in this picture we are repairing the broken well pipe).
The water filter under the house has a bypass to make changing the filter more easy.
Because the service water pumps use an on/off control based on the water pressure which the pump itself generates, we had alternating pressure on the water pipe, which was a bit annoying. A pressure tank with a diaphragm would have been a solution, but we decided to install a second pump in series with the existing pump. The advantage of this is we now have two pumps that serve as a backup for each other. Thanks to the second pump that we installed under the house, the pressure in the water pipe is now more constant. In addition, a cheap stainless steel reservoir was installed that increases the capacity in the water pipe somewhat and makes the pressure curve a bit flatter.
