Making the railing for the patio

the steel frame railing

We made a steel frame railing. The idea is to attach Trespa® or HPL panels to cover the railing and block the view from the outside. HPL is a strong waterproof material and is available in many shapes, colors and sizes. HPL also requires almost no maintenance and lifespan is at least 30 years. Unfortunately, to our surprise, HPL is not for sale in Thailand.

protection from falling

At least we now have some protection from falls from the first floor but still need to find a sturdy rain resistant board.

a good local team of workers

We have found a good local team of workers doing a lot of small jobs in the village. Important too, not expensive and reliable. They have a lot of experience with all the work involved.

privacy screen

The privacy screen of the patio is painted white and installed. We use Diamond brand, asbestos-free, breathable ceiling board, for outside use, waterproof, with symetric long holes, resistant to the sun and rain, firm texture, not decaying, safe from biting, eating termites, moths, not cracking from stretching, not shrinking with the size of 0.4 cm x 60 cm x 120 cm. For extra protection, the slab is painted with primer and wall paint, the same configuration we use for the exterior walls of the house. The interior cladding consists of Plaswood sheets (PVC) 60x80x0.4cm. The railing on top is made of Conwood 25x120x2cm which is normally used for stairs.
