After purchasing the plot, the land looks like on the video below. Actually we purchased two plots beside each other from an older woman. The size of the land is about 3600 m2 (square meter), it equals 2,25 rai ( ไร่ ). 2,25 rai actually means we have 2,25 pieces of land to cultivate. Legal transfer of land owner took place together with the seller at the land department. At the same time we paid the former owner lady. Not a big deal to do the transfer, but it takes lot of waiting time at the office to do the paperwork. The land had no access to utililities like sewer, water and electricity to connect to. The way to the land consists of red sand (Laterite Red Soil), still hoping on an asphalt road in the near future. Our direct neighbor opposite the red sand road is a friendly rice farmer who seem to live here a long time.
It's always fun to watch this early video and compare how it looks today.
The red sand road who leads to our land. On the right of the picture our land waiting for leveling.
More leveling to do but, thank heaven and Buddha only low crops, some roots and grass but no trees. This can be done with agricultural machinery for agriculture - A nice task for our neighboring rice farmer.
Cleaning has started
More cleaning
More cleaning
More cleaning, we can already see the opposite border with the tall bamboo trees.
In front a leg marks the location where the two plots meet. A red flag in the middle marks a corner of the future house.
Our neighbor, the rice farmer, carried out a nice clean-up operation with his machines.
On the right side somebody in the past already put a fence in place. Now it seems we own a lot of high bamboo trees. The man in the background puts an other red flag to indicate a corner of the house.
Now the land looks better more. After drying in the sun, the former green is burned. We keep the fire low to prevent other properties and dry areas from catching fire. The remaining ashes we keep on the land, the CO2 from the ashes is a good base for growing plants.
We order sand to give the later house more height and protect it from water around the house in the rain season. The sand comes from third parties who want to create a pond to keep water for the dry season. The sand is delivered by truck and charged per load.
The sand is made straight and spread out over the area where we want the house.
It looks much better now.
Be aware of the stray dogs if nobody takes care of the dogs they are full of fleas. The dogs always stay close to peoples houses hoping for food.
