There are two big papaya trees growing next to our house, big question - how is that possible? We suspect that one of the workers prepared his meal and put the seeds on the ground next to the house. Now papaya trees are growing tall and have very tasty big fruits.
It started small.
It was growing bigger very quickly.
It reached the first floor, we can harvest papaya from the partio, no need leaving the house.
We keep seeing new yellow flowers and growing fruit..
This is what the harvest looks like after some time in the first year. Someone says it could be a lot more next year and the trees could be up to 12 meters tall.
Now we wait until the fruit turns yellow to enjoy the sweet taste.
Papaya can also be used as a vegetable in its green state by mixing it with other foods.
Good to know Papaya has male and female flowers, this means one can help a hand to get lot of fruit on a papaya tree. Two years later, one of the papaya trees was affected by strong winds and the heavy weight of the large and many papayas as well as a weak tree trunk. The remaining green papayas from the tree are now ripening with the help of ripening bananas that we have put together in a cardboard box. In theory, the papayas should ripen and turn yellow within a few days.
