Since there are so many bananas planted in the area, we of course tried it too. Amazingly, just a year after we planted the first bananas, a plant produced bananas. The banana tree was just 1.4 meters high.
First, the banana tree produced a red bud from which rows of bananas later grew.
The banana fruits usually take two to four months to grow. Fertilizing with a potassium-rich fertilizer encourages fruit growth.
Bananas love high temperatures and rainfall.
Since the banana sprouts were becoming increasingly heavy, we had to support the thin trunk with rope on the fence behind it.
Remarkably, this banana tree produced many new shoots around the trunk which we were able to replant and which thrived.
For mulching we use the banana leaves cut into pieces and let them die under the banana tree.
Unfortunately only the first row grew well. The remaining sprouts remained small even though we provided enough water.
Finally we picked the green bananas and let them ripen from green to yellow. The taste was good.
