The choice for the color of the house was not a big deal. White has a high reflection value and is the color that suffers the least from heating by the sun because white reflects the sun's rays. The same color we chose for the roof. If you consider that in Thailand the UV index, the amount of ultraviolet radiation, can reach values above 10, it seems wise to take this into account. This basically means the temperature inside the house always stays around the outside temperature.
Before painting the house, we needed to do an annoyingly plaster repair. After the plaster had dried on the exterior wall, we discovered some cracks, most of them where the bricks connect the pillars or other concrete pieces. Not a great performance, that's why we dismissed this group the same day, also because of other circumstances before with which we were not satisfied.
One of the cracks in the wall after painting. They told the cracks are not visible anymore after painting - not a good excuse.
For the paintjob we choose a white acali resistant and insulating exterior primer. Insulating is important to not let rain go into the wall. For the white paint we choose a pure acrylic emulsion for extorier with a garanted 15 years protection. Primer and paint we applied each in two layers.
The low walls at the terrass we painted by ourself to check before we applied the primer and the paint to the whole exterior by an entrepreneur.
The gap between the wall and the roof was also closed with plates.
These guys made a skeleton out of bamboo, amazing work. This looks like how it is done for thousands of years and still they doing it today.
The paint is spread over the house and dry!
The pillars will get a Make-Over too, plastered and painted.
