Lake Nong Han ทะเลสาบหนà¸à¸‡à¸«à¸²à¸™ A different view of lake Nong Han and the surrounding area.
Nong Han during the dry season, the lake shrinks and some areas dry out. The many lotus flowers with their different colors remain visible.
At the end of the road that leads around the lake, on the west side, far away, there is a richly decorated Thai crematorium, easily recognizable by its tall chimney.
As a tourist, you would think this sign would give information about the crematory in the background. However, it is about something very different, it says: Chiang Khre Subdistrict Municipality Sakon Nakhon Province - Reinforced Concrete Road Construction Project Ban Don Chiang Ban Yai, Village No. 13, next to Wat Pho Si. Scope of work: Construction of a reinforced concrete road with a width of 4.00 meters. Length 124.00 meters, thickness 0.15 meters or traffic area not less than 496.00 meters. In the north, a tributary flows under the main road that runs between Sakon Nakhon and Tha Rae. On the other side of the main road is the Nong Han Chaloem Phra Kiat Park with its huge white Naga guarding the park.
Fishermen have set up their shady fishing huts next to the tributary to catch ray-finned fish.
After the dry period at the beginning of the year, the rainy season follows. Fishermen make use of this by using large nets on long poles. It is not unusual for fish up to 1.5 metres in size to be caught. The fish are offered on the surrounding markets the same day.
A sign in need of renovation at Nong Han says: Viewpoint and relaxation area to watch the sun sets at Nong Han Lake. Join together and help each other, ask for cooperation for everyone, do not litter or leave glass bottles under the bridge. This is our property. Thank you all for your cooperation.
Almost everywhere you can see cows trying to find something to eat during the dry season.
