Thai lizards are harmless to humans, they come in all sizes and ages. They like small insects, mosquitoes and pests in our house - a plus why we don't hunt them. Most of the time we see house lizards stuck to a wall upside down. Lizards are actually seen as pets because they keep the house free of beasts. They may look ugly and dangerous, but they are harmless and hide as soon as you get close to them. You can sometimes be frightened when they suddenly pop out somewhere unexpected.
Looks like this one lost its tail not long ago in a fight with an enemy. The tail is already growing
They make some short noises when walking or sitting under the roof but not really irritating like a frogs noise. It's quite normal in Thailand to have the lizards around. Of course it prefers our warm tropical climate.
We suspect this naked lizard is newborn or very young.
We discovered these eggs, sheltered in a corner on the ceiling under the house. As it turned out, the eggs came from a large lizard. It also seems that very few species of lizards lay asexual eggs (development of an embryo from an unfertilized egg).
Most lizards we see in and around the house are fairly small. Sometimes they even hide in our mailbox.
Lizards hunt other animals by aiming at their heads ultra fast. They not only satisfy themselves with insects, large lizards also hunt birds as you can see in this picture.
Lizards are everywhere. During one of our trips, we saw a huge lizard at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu - Hawaii. A beautiful work of art.
