Time to transform the messy space under the house into a dry and shady parking lot as it was our vision and we designed it on the original 3D drawings. It also looks a lot cleaner and we get more space to relax outdoors, thinking of BBQ.
We ordered 23 trucks full of sand to fill the space under the house. Not only a post-war truck, still on the road, fulfilled our wish, also other nice semi-oldtimers trucks with funny paintings. Amazing to watch the video.
Amazingly to see the different trucks coming and going. We wonder what the orange flags on the back mean. Maybe a warning: Watch Out or maybe the color of some political party.
A Kubota tractor that came with the trucks and the sand does the distributing job. The driver did very carefully not damaging the utility piping and our papaya tree.
Our future utility and storage room for garden stuff under the house, only the walls and a door are still missing!
The floor looks much better now, there is a bit of sand left that we will use later under the stairs.
This sand was wet from the rain so we keep the ground a little higher. After some time the floor will settle.
It now looks much better from a distance and there is plenty of space under the house to park cars. We can join now the British television series „Grand Designs“ with our homebuilding DIY project.
Next, a part under the house and a small part in front of the stairs will be concreted, the piece in the photo has already been flattened and is waiting for the concrete to be poured. The ground has a slight slope so that no rainwater can collect. The concrete is reinforced with steel mesh and has a height of 10 cm to avoid cracks. The total surface area is approximately 110m2. Unfortunately we had to cancel the order for the concrete floor under the house because the Thai builder doubled the price.
