Naga (นาคา) the fabulous serpent

In Thai culture, traditions and rituals, Nagas are considered the protectors of water a symbol of water and it serves as the guardian of Buddhism. Rivers are often compared to nagas because of their winding course.

Sometimes we see her in the pool busy trying to find something to eat.

snake on the way to the roof for shedding the skin

Here she goes to the roof to shed her skin and leave the old skin behind - snakes shed their skin because it no longer fits. Shedding the skin also helps remove parasites.

the empty skin is visible under the roof

Our naga leaves its shed skin behind, visible for us hanging from the roof. This snake loves our roof very much and another cleaning job is waiting for us.

catch the snake

After she sheds her skin we ask a friend to catch the snake and show her the way out returning to her to the natural environment.
